The Summer Associate Program is designed to be our Firm’s primary hiring tool for new attorneys. Most of our associates previously worked for us as a Summer Associate. This is important to us because of our small size and our committment to keeping a productive culture and work environment. For this reason, our Summer Associate Program provides the most realistic view as possible of life as an associate at our Firm so both the Summer Associate and the lawyers in the Firm can determine if the Summer Associate would make a good fit as a permanent addition to the Firm.
The number of Summer Associate positions available is determined by a realistic evaluation of our expected hiring needs for new associates for the year that those students expect to become lawyers. This typically results in one or two Summer Associate positions from both the rising second-year class and the risitng third-year class. Summer Associates are typically hired to work for the second half of the Summer.
We solicit resumes, transcripts and cover letters from all interested first- and second-year law students for our Summer Associate Program. For first-year students, these materials should be sent by late January or as soon as possible after receiving your first semester grades. Second-year law students should send these materials by mid-August or immediately after the start of their second year of law school. Law students at schools where we conduct on-campus interviews should submit their resumes and transcripts to their Career Service Office for forwarding to our Firm in accordance with their school’s requirements.
