Helmsing Leach Lawyers & Staff Make Donation To United Way

For many years, Helmsing Leach has encouraged its attorneys and staff members to make an annual contribution to United Way, a network of community-based groups that raises billions of dollars every year to support programs benefitting local communities, including Mobile and its surrounding areas.  The firm’s 2016 donation to the organization was $11,040.00 the organization.

Kirk Mattei Completes Coastal Alabama Leadership Program

Helmsing Leach associate Kirk Mattei recently completed the Coastal Alabama Partnership’s (CAP) regional leadership program.  CAP was founded at the recommendation of Governor Riley in the wake of the BP oil spill to advocate and undertake strategic planning for Mobile and Baldwin counties.  As a member of CAP’s first “Coastal Civic Masters Program,” Kirk was part of a small group of area leaders tasked with developing a regional leadership coalition to advocate for economic development, environmental sustainability, and improving the quality of life in coastal Alabama.

Following a longstanding annual tradition, Helmsing Leach lawyers and staff recently made their 2013 contribution to United Way, a network of organizations that raises billions of dollars every year to support programs benefitting local communities, including Mobile and its surrounding areas. This year, firm lawyers and staff donated a total of $12,050 to United Way.

Helmsing Leach Sponsors 2013 Baldwin County Drug Court Graduation

For a third successive year, the Firm has sponsored the graduation ceremony for successful participants in a rehabilitation program for drug offenders run by the Baldwin County Drug Court. The program gives participants an opportunity to have the charges against them dismissed or reduced. To graduate, candidates must maintain sobriety and meet other requirements. In addition to benefiting participants, the program boosts public safety through enhanced monitoring of offenders. Helmsing Leach contributed $1,000 to this year’s ceremony, which occurred on October 17, 2013.

Patrick Finnegan Begins Term As President Of Restore Mobile

This month marks the beginning of Patrick Finnegan’s two-year term as President of Restore Mobile, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving and augmenting Mobile’s rich architectural heritage and continuing the revitalization of the city’s historic core through the acquisition, rehabilitation and resale of run-down properties of architectural or historic significance.  Mr. Finnegan is a long-time member of the Board of Restore Mobile and its predecessor organization, and just completed a two-year term as its Vice President.

Firm Lawyers & Staff Make Annual Christmas Charity Donation

Helmsing Leach continued its longtime Christmas tradition of raising money from its lawyers and staff to donate to a local family in need and to area charities.  This year, the firm raised $1,427 to purchase clothing and other items on the Christmas wish list of one of the Salvation Army’s “neediest families,” and to make contributions to the Bay Area Food Bank and Waterfront Rescue Mission.  Legal assistant Michelle Wells once again took the lead in organizing this worthy project.

Firm Makes Annual Christmas Donation to Local Family

Donating funds to help a local family in need has become an annual Christmas-time tradition at Helmsing Leach.  This year, members of the firm and staff donated $1,545.00, which was more than enough to pay for items on the family’s Christmas lists, plus a few extras.  The remainder of the money will be divided between the Bay Area Food Bank and Waterfront Rescue Mission.  Thanks to our members and staff for donating.

Firm Helps Church Recover Missing Money and Furniture

Warren Herlong and Casey Pipes successfully represented the AOH Church of God and the St. John AOH Church of God in an action to recover money and furniture that were taken from them by former members and the former pastor of the St. John AOH Church of God. The Jury returned a verdict in favor of the Firm’s clients in the exact amount requested by Casey and Warren, $557,227.26.
