| Russell C. BuffkinRussell Buffkin became a partner in 2005 after joining the Firm as an associate in 1999. His practice primarily focuses on general defense litigation with an emphasis on product liability, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation and construction defect claims, including the defense of developers, general contractors, sub-contractors, manufacturers and suppliers. He is admitted to practice in the State of Alabama, the Southern, Middle and Northern United States District Courts in Alabama and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Buffkin attended the Virginia Military Institute and Spring Hill College, where he received his B.S. degree in Finance in 1992. Before pursuing a law degree, he worked in sales and obtained his M.B.A. degree from Spring Hill College in 1996. He received his J.D. degree from the University of Alabama in 1999 with honors. While in law school, he was a member of The Journal of the Legal Profession, where he served as Senior Editor in his final year; was selected to the Bench & Bar Legal Honor Society; received the George Peach Taylor Outstanding Advocacy Award; was a member of the Alabama Trial Advocacy Competition Team; and graduated cum laude. In 2001, Mr. Buffkin graduated from the Defense Counsel Trial Academy, sponsored by the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association. In 2007, he was selected to the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum.
Mr. Buffkin is a member of the American Bar Association, Alabama State Bar, Mobile Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, Alabama Defense Lawyers’ Association, and the Trial Attorneys of America. He has lectured at numerous CLE programs on topics including discovery, taking depositions and general principles of Alabama construction law. He is also active in local civic and other community groups.
